The Institute, G H Patel College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) is managed by the highly reputed and the largest educational trust of Gujarat, Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM), established in 1945 for the upliftment of rural education. Over the span of 60
years CVM has been making spectacular progress by venturing into various emerging disciplines. Today CVM is nurturing 49 educational institutions of diverse types contributing to the panoramic growth of Vallabh Vidyanagar and New Vallabh Vidyanagar.
GCET started in journey in the year 1996 as one of the first self-financed engineering colleges of Gujarat. Originally affiliated to Sardar Patel University, today it is one of the affiliated colleges of Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad. From the very inception GCET has striven to develop itself into an ‘Institution of Excellence’ in education and research in consonance with the spirit of modern Gujarat. In meeting this challenge for excellence, GCET has shaped its institution to the contemporary as well as future demands of need-oriented education. Today GCET has a total strength of 2000 students studying for eight undergraduate and nine post-graduate programmes encompassing a variety of disciplines under the tutelage of 125 dedicated and competent faculty members. The college ranked 23 among top 100 Private Engineering colleges of India according to a survey conducted by DataQuest Magazine in 2016-17; it also ranked 79 th amongst top 100 private institutes by Times Survey 2018. Department of Chemical Engineering
Department of Chemical Engineering, established, in 1996 originally being affiliated to Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar is now one of the affiliated Colleges under Gujarat Technological University (GTU) Ahmedabad. The department, having an intake of 60 students, has so far produced 19 batches of graduate chemical engineers. A post graduate programme ME (Chemical Engineering) with and intake of 24 students was started from 2014. In the year 2012, the UG programme of chemical engineering was accredited by the National Board of Accredition. In the following year, the department received a grants from AICTE under Modernization and removal of Obsolescence (MODROBS) scheme. We have also received project grants from CSIR, IE(I), Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST), and Department of Science & Technology (DST) Govt of India. Our department is recognized by IE(I) as per one of the two centers in Gujarat where AMIE students complete their practical experimnts as a part of their final examination. The Department currently has 13 faculty members, qualified and experienced, who brings to Department a wealth of expertise to maintain a vibrant teaching-learning and industry-oriented research environment. The department has 12 separate laboratories having more than 140 equipment/bench-scale experimental set-ups/small pilot plants/analytical instruments to cater the need of undergraduate curriculum of the Gujarat Technological University.
